Meet Chrissy
Exciting news: Chrissy has found her forever home! When Chrissy arrived at Oscar’s Place, we assumed that she would need to live at our ranch forever… but as we have learned from our donkeys, healing can change everything.
Getting Chrissy and her senior mother, Rosalie, took several years of careful planning. Our farrier had her eye on the two of them, and was able to negotiate their owner surrender. The pair had lived alone for their entire lives and needed some extra love and care.
Sadly, Chrissy lost her mom just three months after they arrived. She was struggling with grief, and since we needed to keep a close eye on her, we didn’t think she would be adoptable. But we continuously assess the health and needs of our donkeys, and over the course of a year and a half, Chrissy recovered really well and was ready to be adopted.
Chrissy found her perfect forever home and has since settled in. Her new family had two middle-aged female donkeys, but after a four-year-long health battle, had to say goodbye to one of them. Sweet Chrissy will help the surviving donkey (and her new family) heal and move forward. After all, she is no stranger to grief herself.
The fact that Chrissy has been adopted is a testament to the healing that happens at Oscar’s Place. Thank you to our team for helping Chrissy heal, Chrissy’s generous sponsors for funding her care, and her donkey friends, Leo and Winston, for getting her through her grief. It takes a village, and we’re so glad you’re part of ours. Learn more about adopting a donkey from Oscar’s Place.
