The First Donkey Hospital in the United States.
The Center for the Advancement of Donkeys. Collinsville, Texas. Opening September 2026.
More rescues, done better.
Since 2021, Oscar’s Place has rescued donkeys from auction, rehabilitated them, and found them homes. We have done it as well as anyone in the country.
The donkeys we rescue are sick. They travel 32 hours on trailers before we ever see them. They arrive in the middle of illness, spreading disease to each other. The first time a veterinarian examines them is days after purchase. We have spent years figuring out how to fix it.
The Center for the Advancement of Donkeys is the answer. It’s one hour from the auction where we rescue our donkeys. It’s built to receive them immediately, diagnose them accurately, and begin their recovery before they ever reach California. It’s the first hospital dedicated solely to donkey care in the United States.

The Bigger Vision
The Center for the Advancement of Donkeys is not just a hospital. It is a hub. A place where data is collected, where vets are trained, and where the science of donkey medicine is advanced. We will be going upstream. Intervening earlier. Learning more. Sharing what we find.
This facility is built to rescue and rehabilitate donkeys in need today and simultaneously improve the welfare of donkeys for decades to come. For the donkeys.
Get involved as a volunteer
Volunteers are a critical part of what we do. At our California locations, volunteers focus on the emotional recovery of our donkeys, providing the human connection and enrichment that our team cannot always offer at scale.
We are building a volunteer program at the Center for the Advancement of Donkeys in Collinsville, Texas. It is currently in development. Check back here for updates.
Future Employment Opportunities
We are building a team in Texas. As the hospital grows, so will our staffing needs. We are a focused team where every person matters. If you believe in what we're building at the Center for the Advancement of Donkeys and want to be part of it, we want to hear from you.
