One week before a livestock auction, Ron heads back to Texas to rescue three mother-and-baby donkey pairs and two mammoth donkey sisters.
Heartbreak strikes on the journey west when one baby doesn’t survive, leaving EO, the grieving mother, with a swollen belly and a deep mistrust of humans. The mammoth sisters prove challenging during intake, but Kenneth steps in to keep Dr. Kerry and the team safe as exams move forward.
Meanwhile, special attention is given to the survivors — babies JoJo and Charlie Brown, and EO — whose loss leaves a lasting mark. More than two years later, EO and her group — Charlie Brown, JoJo, Shirley, and Lorraine — move to Oscar’s Place’s sister ranch, Potter Valley, a quieter refuge for donkeys who prefer less human interaction. For EO, it’s the perfect fit. As Ron and Kenneth hand the reins to new ranch manager Hugo, the group quickly settles in, reminding us that not every happy ending looks the same — and sometimes, that’s okay.
