Creating a better world for donkeys.

Change a Donkey’s Life

Donkeys first.

Oscar’s Place rescues donkeys from auctions and takes in donkeys whose owners can no longer care for them.

At our ranch in Hopland, California, every donkey receives the food, shelter, medicine, and care they need to heal and thrive.

After making a complete emotional and physical rehabilitation, many donkeys find their loving forever home. Others find lifelong care at our sanctuary.

    Adopt a Donkey

Open your heart and your home to a rescued donkey who is ready for their next chapter. Every adoption creates space for another donkey to be rescued and rehabilitated at Oscar’s Place.

We save donkeys, and they save us.

Donkeys are emotional, intelligent, and loyal. They form lifelong bonds and feel joy, grief, and love as deeply as humans do.

But right now, millions of these sensitive animals are being killed to meet the growing demand for the collagen in their hides, which is used in traditional medicine and cosmetics. Unwanted donkeys often find themselves at auctions, where kill pen buyers intend to sell them by the pound for slaughter.

Oscar’s Place was founded in 2021 to change that.
