  • Where are you located?
    We are located in Mendocino County, south of Ukiah on the west bank of the Russian River. Our address is 4425 Hwy 175, Hopland, CA 95449.
  • How can I change my monthly donation?
    Donors can click here and make any changes like updating a credit card, change the amount of your donation, change the day of the month that the donation processes, and download a receipt.
  • How much does it cost to adopt?
    Our commitment to the physical and emotional recovery of our donkeys comes at a cost. Some of this cost is offset by the adoption fees. For a single donkey, we ask $1,000 and for a pair, $1,800.   • What is Oscar's Place Guardians?
    All monthly donors are Guardians (this includes Sponsors)! It's our circle of closest supporters, and it's a chance to make a difference every month in feeding and caring for the donkeys in our care. To learn more about being a Guardian, click here. If you can’t be a Guardian, you can still make a one-time donation by visiting the donation page and select “Give once” at the top of the secure donation window.
  • How do I make a donation as a gift for a birthday/anniversary/other?
    Go to the donation page. At the bottom, between the donation amount and the “Donate and Support” button is an option to check a box to “Give in honor or in memory.” Click to highlight either “One Time” or “Monthly” at the top of the box and select a donation amount from the short list provided or type in the amount manually.
  • Do you allow groups?
    Groups that are either volunteers, donors or potential adopters may schedule a visit during volunteer hours by emailing We do not have the capacity for overnight guests. Volunteer hours are from 9a-3p Tue, Wed., Thu., and Sat.
  • Do I need an appointment?
    Oscar’s Place is not open to the public. We do welcome scheduled visits from donors, volunteers and/or potential adopters. Please email to set up your visit. We cannot accommodate visitors that show up unannounced without signing the proper waivers.
  • Is there an age requirement?
    For liability reasons and because we are a sanctuary where animals are recovering from abuse no children under the age of 12 are allowed. Youth between the ages of 12-17 need to be accompanied by an adult with a liability release waiver on file.
